Sir Nick Faldo on Seve Ballesteros
Both Sir Nick Faldo and Severiano Ballesteros were renowned for their competitive instincts and uncompromising natures out on the course during the peaks of their careers.
The fact that Faldo's greatest successes came at a time when the wins began to slowly dry up a little for the late, great, Seve Ballesteros may well have been the cause of a little friction between the pair but it was clear that they had great respect for each other's very contrasting abilities.
It was this clash of playing styles, Sir Nick Faldo with his relentlessly accurate and consistent play and Seve with his unique brand of wild and courageous golf, that also added to the perception that the pair weren't exactly the best of friends on or off the course.
In this video however, it is made clear that the pair shared an enormous amount of respect for one another, which of course is only fair and correct given that they shared 11 major championship victories between them.
As they grew older, wiser and played more for a shared cause, Team Europe in the Ryder Cup, it was clear that a true friendship was blossoming, perhaps strengthened by the fact that they had for a such a long time been so determined to better each other in individual pursuits.
